Volunteer at a Walk

Volunteers are needed at all five Walk sites for the Greater Western Carolinas Chapter in 2014!  If you or your group are interested in volunteering at our 2014 Walks to Cure Diabetes, please email Jennifer Hall at jhall@jdrf.org.

Volunteer Assignments Include:

GENERAL REGISTRATION
Job Description: Help facilitate general registration for the walk. More detailed description available upon sign up.

GREETERS
Job Description: Help assist Walkers filling out their donation envelopes. Also help maintain an even flow of lines at registration. Volunteers for this area must be able to attend a short training session before their shift on Walk day morning.

FOOD TENT
Job Description: Follow all sanitary practices and safety rules (knives, hot coffee). Unload refrigeration trucks, unpack boxes of food items, stock tables with breakfast food, man tables. Transition to lunch set up around 10:00. Rearrange tables that were used for registration in the morning so they can be used for seating at lunch, load all leftovers into soup kitchen cars and clean up.

CHECK POINTS 1, 2 & 3
Job Description: Hand out drinks, snacks, band-aids, glucose tabs, etc. to walkers as needed.

CHEERING SECTION
Job Description: Cheer the walkers on along the course. Move to finish line and cheer walkers on as they cross the finish line. Hand out walker surveys at finish line, and encourage walkers to sign the walk banner.
