All volunteers must also complete theVolunteer Interestform.
Chaired by the Walk Chair who is responsible for building a sufficient committee to handle walk logistics (in coordination with JDRF staff). Works in conjunction with Program Development and the Corporate Walk Chair to develop corporate involvement and the overall success of the event.
Chaired by the Gala Chair who is responsible for building a sufficient committee to handle all aspects of the Gala (in coordination with JDRF staff). Works in conjunction with the Program Development Chair to help meet budget. Also works with the GalaHonoree, if applicable, to ensure budgets are met.
Bag of Hope Mentors
Our Bag of Hope is filled with educational aides and our friend Rufus the Bear (who also has diabetes). This is delivered to newly diagnosed families to help with learning how to live the the balancing act required of tight control. Be a friend, mentor and good listener as you reach out to these families. (Year-round need)
There areseveral times throughout the year wherevolunteers are needed forthingsaround the JDRF office, such as copying, folding, stuffing, putting together information packets, making follow-up calls and just keeping us organized. Give us a call and we’ll put you to work! (As needed basis)
Pro Bono Opportunities
During the year, we have a need for advice from CPAs, attorneys, advertising executives and media relations personnel. Offer your area of expertise to help us move forward in our mission. Participate on an as-needed basis, or in an ongoing capacity to lend an ear and hand as opportunities arise. (Year-round need)
All throughout the year, children with type 1 as well as siblings, parents, grandparents and other family members are invited to speak on behalf or JDRF at various events. Ambassadors put a face with JDRF at functions such as internal kick off events at local companies for the Walk to Cure Diabetes, the Family Team Kickoff event for the walk, the Walk to Cure Diabetes event itself and by volunteering at the annual JDRF Black Tie Gala. Opportunities also include the JDRF Kids Walk program for schools, Team JDRF, visiting support groups, and various outreach events throughout the year. Please contact the local chapter to get involved. (Year-round need)
